లింగాష్టకం 8 చరణాలతో కూడిన ఒక స్తోత్రం (అష్టకం). ఈ లింగాష్టకం స్తోత్రాన్ని రోజు క్రమం తప్పకుండా భక్తిశ్రద్ధలతో చదవడం వల్ల, దారిద్ర్య దుఃఖాలను తొలిగించి పోయి సకల సౌభాగ్యాలు కలుగుతాయి.

The significance of Lingashtakam

Lingashtakam is a hymn dedicated to Lord Shiva and it describes the greatness of Linga (the idol of Lord Shiva). The hymn consists of eight stanzas and the first five are in praise of Lord Shiva, while the last three are in praise of his consort Goddess Parvati and their son Kartikeya (Murugan). In the final stanza, Lord Shiva states that everything exists in him and he is known by various names in the different parts of India.

Singing any song daily is helpful in doing a particular work. Singing Lingashtakam will definitely help to attain Bhava (devotion) for Shiva, which would result in attaining moksha (freedom from cycle of birth and death). The first stanza describes how our five actions are incomplete without chanting his name. The second stanza explains that our mind will be free from all worries if we make it as a habit to do pooja every day. Third stanza asks us to worship Lord Shiva with complete devotion which is certainly going to bring prosperity in life. Fourth stanza explains that by worshipping Lord Shiva one can attain not only material but also spiritual wealth like peace, happiness etc.

If you are a Shiva devotee, Lingasthi or know a lingasthi then read it. This stotram is also recommended to be read in temples and Shiva temples before starting a pooja. If you belong to any other religious group (Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism etc.), but would like to become a shiva bhakta then go ahead and read it too. You should do so if you want to attain moksha from your present birth itself. It is believed that reciting/reading/hearing (understanding) these slokas will get rid of your sorrows and griefs in life. Anyone who recites it with devotion gets immense peace and blissful mind.

బ్రహ్మమురారి సురార్చిత లింగం – నిర్మలభాసితశోభిత లింగం |

జన్మజదుఃఖవినాశక లింగం – తత్ ప్రణమామి సదాశివ లింగం || 1||

ఏ లింగమును అయితే బ్రహ్మ విష్ణు మొదలగు సురులు అర్చించురో. ఏ లింగము నిర్మలత్వము శోభతో కూడి యున్నదో,ఏ లింగము దుఃఖములను నశింప చేయగలదో, అ శివలింగమునకు నేను నమస్కరిస్తున్నాను.

దేవమునిప్రవరార్చిత లింగం – కామదహమ్ కరుణాకర లింగం |

రావణదర్పవినాశన లింగం – తత్ ప్రణమామి సదాశివ లింగం || 2 ||

ఏలింగాన్ని అయితే దేవతలు ఋషులు తరతరాలుగా చర్చించుకున్నారౌ, ఏ లింగము కోరికలను కాల్చివేసి కరుణ కలిగి ఉన్నదో, ఏ లింగము రావణాసురుడి గర్వము నాశనం చేసిందో ఆ శివలింగమునకు సదా నమస్కరిస్తున్నాను.

సర్వసుగన్ధిసులేపిత లింగం – బుద్ధివివర్ధనకారణ లింగం |

సిద్ధసురాసురవన్దిత లింగం – తత్ ప్రణమామి సదాశివ లింగం || 3 ||

ఏ లింగము అన్నిరకముల సుగంధములచే అద్దబడియున్నదో, ఏ లింగము బుద్ధి వికాసమునకు కారణమై యున్నదో, ఏ లింగము సిద్ధులు, దేవతలు, అసురుల చే వందనము చేయబడుచున్నదో, అటువంటి సదాశివలింగమునకు నేను నమస్కరిస్తున్నాను.

కనకమహామణిభూషిత లింగం – ఫనిపతివేష్టిత శోభిత లింగం |

దక్షసుయజ్ఞ వినాశన లింగం – తత్ ప్రణమామి సదాశివ లింగం || 4 ||

ఏ లింగము బంగారు మరియు గొప్ప మంత్రులచే అలంకరించబడి ఉన్నదో, ఏ లింగము సర్ప రాజము చే చుట్టుకుని, అలంకరింపబడి ఉన్నదో, ఏ లింగము దక్ష యజ్ఞము ను నాశనము చేసినదో, అటువంటి సదాశివ లింగమున నేను నమస్కరిస్తున్నాను.

కుంకుమచందనలేపిత లింగం – పంకజహారసుశోభిత లింగం |

సంచితపాపవినాశన లింగం – తత్ ప్రణమామి సదాశివ లింగం || 5 ||

ఏ లింగం కుంకుమ మరియు గంధముతో అద్ద బడి ఉన్నదో, ఏ లింగం తామరపువ్వుల ఆహారముతో అలంకరించబడి ఉన్నదో, ఏ లింగము సంపాదించిన పాపనాశిని నాశనం చేయగలదు అటువంటి సదాశివ లింగమును నేను నమస్కరిస్తున్నాను.

దేవగణార్చిత సేవిత లింగం – భావైర్భక్తిభిరేవ చ లింగం |

దినకరకోటిప్రభాకర లింగం – తత్ ప్రణమామి సదాశివ లింగం || 6 ||

ఏ లింగమును దేవగణములచే భావముతో, భక్తితో పూజింపబడుచూ సేవింపబడుచూ ఉన్నదో, ఏ లింగము కోటి సూర్య సమానమైన శోభతో ఉన్నదో, అటువంటి సదాశివలింగమునకు నేను నమస్కరిస్తున్నాను.

అష్టదలోపరివేష్టిత లింగం – సర్వసముద్భవకారణ లింగం |

అష్టదరిద్రవినాశన లింగం – తత్ ప్రణమామి సదాశివ లింగం || 7 ||

ఏ లింగము ఎనిమిది బిల్వ దళములను చుట్టూ కలిగియున్నదో, ఏ లింగము సమస్త సృష్టికి కారణమై యున్నదో, ఏ లింగము ఎనిమిది రకాల దరిద్రములను నశింపజేయగలదో , అటువంటి సదాశివలింగమునకు నేను నమస్కరిస్తున్నాను.

సురగురుసురవరపూజిత లింగం – సురవనపుష్ప సదార్చిత లింగం |

పరమపదం పరమాత్మక లింగం – తత్ ప్రణమామి సదాశివ లింగం || 9 ||

ఏ లింగము సురులయొక్క గురువు (బృహస్పతి) మరియు ఉత్తమమైన సురులచే పూజింపబడుచున్నదో, ఏ లింగము దేవతల పూదోటయందున్న పువ్వులచే అర్చనచేయబడుచున్నదో, ఏ లింగము ఉత్తమమైనదానికన్నా ఉన్నతమైన పరమాత్మ స్థాయిలో యున్నదో, అటువంటి సదాశివలింగమునకు నేను నమస్కరిస్తున్నాను.

లింగాష్టకమిదం పుణ్యం యః పఠేత్ శివసన్నిధౌ |

శివలోకమవాప్నోతి శివేన సహ మోదతే ||

లింగాష్టకము ఈ పుణ్యప్రదమైన 8 శ్లోకములను ఎవరైతే భక్తిశ్రద్ధలతో శివలింగం ముందర చదువుతారో వారు శివ లోకమును పొంది శివానందమును అనుభవించగలరు.
